In the
conference hall of the Savoy Hotel FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov opened the
World Candidates Tournament 2013. The opening ceremony was attended by the FIDE President’s advisors
and partners on the Geosocial Games Project - Oleg Savchuk, Volodymyr Kolomiiets and Alexander Snitko.
In the
evening Kirsan Ilyumzhinov mentioned about rich chess traditions in London. In the 19th
century such masters as William Steinitz, Emanuel Lasker, Howard Staunton
gained success in chess. "Next three weeks London will become the main world chess
center and the upcoming tournament will be the most anticipated and
the leading event of the year" – Ilyumzhinov said.
On the
next day the leaders of the Geo-Social Games Project had a meeting with Predrag
Popovic (company Fincore) and his partners.
They discussed
social aspects of Geo-Social Games: Collective Chess, Champion’s Move, etc.
