A Sound Mind in a Sound Body
A
great danger which is hanging over our society today threatens our economy, the
political system but what is the worst it threatens the destruction of
personality. As nowadays there is a variety of different sources of information
which influences on the child’s vulnerable psychics that’s why the task of our
modern society is to protect children from harmful information and promote child’s
effective development. That is the task for Vulcan Youth Sports School established
by Malchin G., Kolomiets V., Lebedinskiy A. in 1986 and has been realized for
26 years. The founders of Youth Sports School succeed in it. Every year
participants of school win prizes.
Sports
School is engaged in feeding your mind and making your body stronger. As a
sound body has a sound mind, doesn’t it? The following strong character traits
are adopted: courage, self-confidence, bravery, loyalty, responsibility etc as a
wise man is a strong man.
Physical
education is not only a source of cheerfulness and optimism, which is very
important, but also a source of spiritual enrichment of the individual. If you
saved the health of your body, respectively, and you are healthy spiritually.

The
idea of intellectual wealth is adopted by means of the game in
chess which is considered to be a smart educational game. The ancient game of
chess has been refreshed by developers of the Geo-Social Games Project and has
been given a new breath. After all, no doubt, chess is the best intellectual
game, in which nothing depends on luck, but the level of player’s skills.
Excursion into the History of Vulcan
Vulcan Youth Education Center was established in 1986 with the aim of the patriotic education of children and young people, their physical and spiritual development, comprehensive training of youth of premilitary age for military service.
The head of Ukrainian Union of Afghan Veterans Sergiy
Chervonopisskiy took an active part in the establishment of YEC
"Vulcan". The latter was headed by Andrey Lebedinsky and his
vice-chairmen Malchin Georgy and Vladimir Kolomiets. During 26 years they worked
together. Every year 600-800 children and teenagers between the ages of 5 to 20
years were engaged in the "Vulcan".
Thanks to experienced coaches children and teenagers
quickly learned skills of martial arts, topography, learned to jump with a
parachute. The latter was demonstrated during the first demonstration performance dedicated to
Victory Day. Further, in that day the performance became a tradition and was held
constantly during 20 years. On the performance they demonstrate their skills
required to deal with military equipment, skills in military self-defense
techniques, throwing knives, imitation of explosions.

In 80-s and 90-s senior participants of YEC “Vulcan” enrolled
in the Armed Forces. After a while authorities of YEC received lots of grateful
letters from the commanders of military units. Commanders appreciated that guys
had good physical and spiritual state, high level of skills. Due to it young
soldiers got additional days off.

Over the last years about 1500 participants of YEC
“Vulcan” served in the most prestigious units of the Armed Forces. Some time
passed and the increase in the number of youth clubs with military and
patriotic education made it possible to organize competitions among the
participants of such clubs from different areas of Ukraine. Martial arts took a
leading part in the program of competitions. Later other military arts and
crafts were added to the program. Participants of YEC won prizes almost in
every competition - fighting and hurdle races in teams, marathons, shooting and
contest of strength.
Since 1989 health camp for youth has worked in summer. Daily
schedule included training three times a day, walks for exploration, visits to
places of military glory. It became a tradition to celebrate the Day of Neptune
(the organizers of YEC "Vulcan" played leading roles) making
fires during ceremonial opening and closing of the camp. Staying in the camp one
month the youth got topographic training, mastered the skills of driving military
automotives. Favorite course of the youth was a complicated form of training
such as underwater orienteering, which was promoted by the founders of Vulkan. In
1990 the first parachute jump took part at the airport in the village called
Chehovka. Since that time, parachute training has been a favorite course of the
youth.
During the years of its existence over 10 thousand
children and teenagers were trained in YEC “Vulcan”. The achievements of the
youth engaged in Vulcan prove that coaches and trainers are real professionals as
their sportsmen win the championships of Ukraine, Ukrainian and international tournaments.
Since 2008 for high achievements in sports especially
in boxing, kickboxing and fitness, YEC "Vulcan" was transferred from
the jurisdiction of the Committee on Family and Youth Affairs to the Committee
of Physical Culture and Sports. As well the name was changed into Vulcan Youth Sports
School.
