Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has become the President of the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA)
May 28 in St.
Petersburg within an international convention SportAccord the General Assembly
of the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) was hold, in which was
unanimously elected the new president of the IMSA. FIDE President Kirsan
Ilyumzhinov became the head of the Association. Among the first who sincerely
congratulated Kirsan Nikolayevich, was an advisor of FIDE President Oleg
Savchuk.
In his first
speech as the president of the IMSA Kirsan Ilyumzhinov expressed his gratitude to all
the members of the Association for trust and shared his plans concerning the
further development of the IMSA.
In 2005 the IMSA was
founded by four federations developing intellectual sports: International Chess
Federation, the World Bridge Federation, the International Draughts Federation and the International Go Federation (total number of professionals - more
than 500 million people), a member of the IMSA, without the right to vote is
the World Xiangqi
Federation (Chinese chess).
